In the past 24 years WWF Hungary has been busy protecting biodiversity, promoting sustainable use of natural resources and engaging in environmental policy work.

We are now looking for a Corporate Engagement and Fundraising Expert to join our team in a full time position.

The main responsibility of this role is to maintain and further develop the fundraising toolkit of WWF Hungary, facilitate business engagement and secure financial contribution to WWF’s environmental activities in Hungary. This involves the strategic planning and management of various means of corporate and individual fundraising, managing the development and implementation of partnership engagement strategies with the business sector.

The Corporate Engagement and Fundraising Expert is based in Budapest, and reports to WWF Hungary Country Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Strategic planning of fundraising activities

This duty will be concentrated on improving and introducing fundraising tools, solutions and systems, increasing efficiency and profitability, strengthening the coherency between different means of fundraising. The main lines of the work will be:

  • Develop, implement and revise the fundraising strategy and annual work plans
  • Business planning for fundraising activities, revision and evaluation of ongoing projects
  • Improve the private fundraising system
  • Implement international best practices on the Hungarian market

2. Engagement with private sector

This duty will be concentrated on creating and maintaining partnerships with business sector to support and sustain the conservation work of WWF in Hungary. The main lines of the work will be:

  • Develop, implement and revise a strategy and annual work plan for business sector engagement of WWF Hungary
  • Build new and manage ongoing business partnerships
  • Engage key companies in business sectors that are relevant for WWF (e.g. food, pulp&paper, energy, beverage, water, retail, banking & finance, clothing & apparel, consulting)
  • Approach companies with proposals, organizing and coordinating business negotiations
  • Develop project proposals together with the Conservation and Communications team
  • Support CSR communication

Qualifications

  • MSc in business, finance, economics or related fields with at least 5 years’ experience, or post-graduate degree with at least 3 years’ experience.
  • Strong sales skills and experience, preferably in fundraising
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation
  • Demonstrate strong economic analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the Hungarian and the Central European business sectors
  • Experience in presenting and promoting complex ideas and solutions in the private sector
  • Existing connections in business environment
  • Excellent networker, with good organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to function in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Decision-making skills, ability to communicate effectively with various groups of stakeholders
  • Excellent capacity to manage human and financial resources
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Hungarian and English
