Coral Reef Field Biologist InternshipEndangered Species International (ESI) is seeking a volunteer/intern for its coral reef assessment and restoration project in the Philippines. This position is unique and requires some experience in coral reef assessment and restoration including reef check methodology, good writing skills, ability to handle responsibilities and to achieve the goals of the project in the timely manner. A team of two biologists will conduct a coral reef assessment and provide a restoration plan to restore reefs through various conservation, scientific, and economic approaches. The tasks of the internship include:·Providing a work plan and basic methodology for project’s activities.·Conducting coral reef field assessment and study with another field biologist in the Philippines.·Reporting brief progress reports to manager.·Providing a final report including report findings and recommendations on how to restore coral reefs including a strategic plan.The project will occur in southern Philippines and the intern must cover his travel expenses excluding the ground transportation once in the Philippines. Project activities will start in December 2008 and will last approximately 1-2 months.The study site is about 120 hectares located in an area about 45 minutes from the main island.
