WWF-India, one of the largest conservation organizations, engaged in wildlife and nature conservation in the country, invites applications from candidates with an inherent sensitivity and passion towards promoting the conservation of nature, to join our Species & Landscapes Conservation team as Coordinator/ Associate Coordinator –Conservation, for implementing conservation project related work in WWF India’s Satpuda Maikal Landscape (SML) in Chhattisgarh and adjacent areas and will closely work with local communities on issues related to forest protection and management, governance, livelihood, energy access and human-wildlife conflict.
The SML landscape is spread across three states and comprises a large number of villages that fall in crucial corridor and habitat areas, significant portions of which are threatened. The incumbent will be required to provide leadership to an experienced field team and imaginatively build partnerships with Forest Department, other government agencies and other stakeholders and as a senior person shall be the nodal person for our activities in Chhatisgarh. 
Location: In the state of Chhattisgarh-exact location to be decided. Extensive travel within the landscape involved.
The Job Profile: 

A. Programme Development
- Provide field information and assist the Team Leader – SML in preparation of quality funding proposal and get buy in from stakeholders for implementing those projects
- Assist in selecting of associates and partners as well as team members for implementing community based conservation initiatives in the landscape 
B. Programme Implementation
- Work with the team and under supervision of the Team Leader – SML for executing, implementing and monitoring conservation program activities as per approved work plan
- Work closely with other colleagues in the landscape team to identify key areas of intervention both thematic and geographical.
- Develop a strong working relationship with the community based organizations in the state of Chhatisgarh for implementing conservation projects.
-Strengthen community institutions and community-level decision-making processes with a focus on natural resource management and environmental governance.
- Design and implement field trials and pilots of activities aimed at strengthening livelihoods, reducing excessive dependence on biomass from forest areas, and reducing human-wildlife conflict.
- Supervise the species conservation activities in the Chhatisgarh part of the landscape in coordination with the Team Leader – SML and other biologists
- Implement project activities and Monitoring & Evaluation to demonstrate impact of community engagement in conservation
- Assist in proposal development, project management including formulating workplans, reporting, monitoring, financial management and delivery of agreed targets 

C. Networking & Advocacy 
- Liaise with other partner organizations to coordinate activities, with special reference to community based conservation efforts
- Facilitating information flow from partners/landscape about conservation and livelihood issues to Landscape team and the secretariat 

D. Reporting 
- Assist in preparation of quarterly technical reports, scientific publications and other communication material 

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:

  • Masters Degree, preferably in Wildlife Science/ Biosciences/ Social Sciences/Social Work/ Public Policy/Development or a related field. Ph.D. in relevant field is desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of field experience in the development sector, preferably including implementation of community-related projects related to natural resource management, livelihoods, energy access and governance. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Hindi (written & oral) is mandatory.
