Title: Coordinator, Walker Basin Restoration Program

Summary: This position assists the Manager and Program Director with a variety of activities related to development, implementation, and administration of the Walker Basin Restoration Program. Established by Public Law 111-85 in 2009, the $200 million Program is a core initiative of the Foundation's Western Water Program and includes the acquisition of water rights and related interests from willing sellers in the Walker River Basin, Nevada; land stewardship activities on retired farms; land and water conservation projects; significant outreach to local landowners; and development and administration of grant programs for associated conservation and stewardship, research and evaluation, and implementation support.

This position reports directly to the Manager, based in Reno, Nevada and will also provide assistance as necessary to the Program Director based in Washington, DC. The position works closely with other Foundation staff as well as numerous Program consultants, contractors, and grantees in various states including Nevada, California, Oregon, Colorado, and Washington, DC. This position requires a strong desire and ability to support and assist in coordination and organization of a complex, multifaceted and fast paced Program. Key attributes of the position include the ability to provide support and assistance on multiple tasks and projects concurrently with many partners across multiple time zones.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and organize Program related travel, meetings, conference calls, and other communications.
  • Track key dates, deadlines, and deliverables related to all aspects of the Program, maintain task tracking spreadsheets and software with assistance from the Manager.
  • Manage the Program Calendar and individual calendars as necessary.
  • Organize and maintain the digital and hard copy file structure with guidance from the Manager.
  • Understand importance and complexity of programmatic relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Assist with the preparation of Board briefing materials, Congressional notification abstracts, weekly progress reports, annual reports, and other reports and information concerning the Program.
  • Assist in development and upkeep of the website and respond to public and other requests for Program related information, and participate in the development of outreach material
  • Ability to attend meetings, take notes, and provide updates to the broader team.
  • Work with DC staff on issues related to contracts, grants, and finances.
  • Anticipate pending needs and take initiative to assist the program. Attend meetings where representation is needed.
  • Support the Manager and Program Director with analysis, development and planning as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with background in natural science, economics, business management or other relevant disciplines.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in project administration or program management.
  • Ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests for information.
  • Proactive and strong self-initiative skills.
  • Ability to coordinate key tasks and track deadlines, organize meetings and calls.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Pro.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
