The  Coordinator will support CI’s institutional fundraising activities, led by the U.S. Government Policy team, to maximize U.S. Government investments in CI programs by ensuring effective coordination of fundraising activities and support management of USG Account. The position will report to the Senior Director, U.S. Government Funding within CI’s U.S. Government Policy Division.

The Coordinator will have primary responsibility for tracking U.S. Government funding opportunities, and for ensuring timely distribution of relevant information about such opportunities to CI programs.  The position will also respond to requests from CI programs for funding-related information about U.S. Government departments and agencies.  The Coordinator will also be a key member of all USG proposal teams and have full responsibility for completion of required support documentation, compilation of narrative input, and other responsibilities for successful completion of proposal. Additionally, the position will be responsible for scheduling and planning internal account management  and cross-divisional strategy meetings, as well as high-level external donor meetings.  The Coordinator will also handle planning and scheduling of capacity building meetings with CI country program staff visiting CI headquarters, and related efforts to build field knowledge and capacity on U.S. government funding opportunities and grant processes. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Track and assess USG funding opportunities (e.g., monitoring USG agency web sites, manage internal tracking system), and provide information to CI programs including support to the field in identifying USG funding sources for strategic activities
  • Respond to CI program requests for donor information
  • Act as key member of all USG proposal teams and have full responsibility for completion of certain tasks
  • Schedule and plan internal account management and cross-divisional strategy meetings, as well as high-level external donor meetings
  • Coordinate field capacity building and training activities on USG fundraising (e.g., meetings with CI country program staff visiting HQ)
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 4+ years relevant professional experience, including some USAID fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of international conservation issues and the nonprofit sector
  • Knowledge of U.S. government structure and processes
  • Strong communications skills – oral and written
  • Proven ability to work with a wide variety of people from different cultures, backgrounds and political contexts
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to work as a team playerDemonstrated experience in MS Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Fluency in English

 

Work Location:

This position is based at CI HQ in Crystal City, VA.  Some travel may be required. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Grants/contracts/procurement experience
  • Experience dealing with the U.S. government
