Description

The Seascapes Coordinator will provide a variety of support functions for the Seascapes Program. S/he will report directly the Senior Director of the Seascapes team, within the Center for Oceans.

Seascape initiatives build coalitions among governments, communities and the private sector to improve ocean management at scale, through a broad suite of interventions, from marine protected areas to fisheries management, strengthening policies, empowering communities, and developing long-term financing solutions. CI works in four Seascapes spanning parts of eight countries (Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Indonesia, The Philippines & Malaysia), as well as pursuing emerging initiatives in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. The Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support for preparing two semi-annual donor reports along with organizing meetings; develop and maintain communication materials to promote the Seascapes model to potential partners/donors; and provide research support for the Seascapes program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting:

  • Coordinate the preparation of regular donor reports, including editing, formatting, and compiling content provided by field teams, and structuring technical content into the final products

Administrative Support:

  • Organize meetings and workshops
  • Arrange travel, prepare presentations, and input into content and agenda planning
  • Maintain team records and documents

Support the implementation of Seascapes field programs:

  • Liaise with and assist the field teams on issues as needed
  • Share information about Seascapes with other teams within CI
  • Support proposal writing

Communications:

  • Develop and maintain communication and fundraising materials and tools, including factsheets, website content and blogs

Research:

  • Maintain the marine articles database
  • Undertake one-off research where appropriate

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • This position is based in CI Headquarters in Arlington, VA
  • This is a fixed term 1 year position
  • Regular work environment, but the position will require 1 international trip a year

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: excel, ms word, and power point
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform
  • Proficiency in writing and editing reports and documents
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience cooperating with an extensive and diverse set of colleagues; familiarity with a variety of cultural contexts and how best to engage in different cultural settings

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated interest in marine conservation
  • Experience working in developing countries
  • Understanding of research methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Creative Suite: InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Bahasa Indonesia
