Coordinator, Marketing - Toronto, Ontario

Purpose and General Description:

The Marketing Coordinator position is an opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic and passionate about nature to join a leading, innovative and ever growing organization in the not-for-profit sector.

The Marketing department and its assets are a growing area for the organization and we are seeking an outgoing, initiative driven individual who is interested in passionately marketing NCC’s work and message.

The successful candidate will work closely with regional offices and national departments to achieve Marketing, messaging and branding goals and contribute to the recruitment of new NCC supporters.

The successful candidate will develop and revise content, and gather images for web articles, and publications. The incumbent will demonstrate an excellent proven record of verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail and time-management. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for seeking and placing opportune advertisements for print, TV and radio and recommend placement opportunities for paid advertising. They will work closely on more complex creative with vendors and provide basic in-house design and photo editing support.   

The successful candidate will provide marketing support to corporate partner marketing relationships and ensure marketing requirements are delivered as per agreements in cooperation with relationship managers.

The incumbent will also represent NCC at promotional and special events, some evenings and weekends required.

This role provides general coordination for the Marketing team and Director through development of timelines, material and content research and review, and production of materials, as well as back up for social media, and promotional outreach. This position is also the lead on advertising and PSA placement, and ad sales.

Reporting Relationship

The Coordinator, Marketing reports to the Director, Marketing and will work closely with the members of the other Philanthropy and Marketing teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Marketing material development support: as guided by the Director of Marketing, work with vendors to produce creative for ads, PSAs, and other marketing materials, as required by the creative marketing department
  • Provide research support for content development and image needs, copywriting and proof-reading support and provide basic in-house design and photo editing 
  • General coordination support for the Director and the Marketing team
  • Advertising and PSA placement: solicit complimentary media placement for print, TV and radio PSAs; recommend placement opportunities for paid advertising. Ad sales for media partnerships
  • Support for corporate and/or promotional partner activations: in cooperation with the relevant relationship managers, ensure that the marketing requirements of our corporate partners are delivered as per our agreement or contract
  • Representing NCC at promotional events, some evenings and weekends required

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • An individual that is driven and self-motivated is required
  • A team player that is flexible and adaptive with an ability to multitask in a fast paced environment while balancing priorities and deadlines is required
  • Strong communication skills, and an ability to write well in English required
  • Outgoing, confident and engaging personality with a positive phone manner required
  • Proven time-management skills
  • Strong technical skills and an ability to pick up new tools quickly
  • Understanding of brand management and messaging
  • Knowledge of social media best practices

Education and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Advertising placements, outreach and solicitation experience
  • Writing and copyediting experience
  • Content research experience
  • Adobe Suite, Photoshop, In-Design graphic design and editing experience
  • Knowledge of Canadian conservation issues would be an asset
  • HTML, and CMS experience would be an asset
  • Bilingual French/English would be an asset
