Description

Conservation International (CI) is looking to recruit a Marine Project Coordinator to work within the Global Marine division in the Betty and Gordon Moore Center for Science and Oceans.

About the Global Marine Division

The Global Marine Division (www.conservation.org/marine) transforms how we use and manage the oceans.  Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, Conservation International’s Marine Division empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity. We move quickly from testing and proving the viability of innovations to implementing them globally.

The Marine Project coordinator will support two projects:  The Ocean Health Index and the Seascapes Program.

The Ocean Health Index:  The Ocean Health Index (www.oceanhealthindex.org) which launched in 2012 is a composite index measuring how well the oceans provide benefits to people now and in the future.  Scientifically solid and globally respected, the Ocean Health Index reveals variations and trends in ocean health and offers a new way of looking at both the interest of people and needs of the oceans.  With this tool, our mission is to inform policy and change behavior.

Seascapes:  Since 2004, CI has pioneered and refined a "Seascapes" approach to improve ocean management and health at scale through broad coalitions and partnerships with governments, the private sector, communities and non-governmental organizations. CI's Seascapes program resides within four established Seascapes: the Eastern Tropical Pacific Seascape (with collaboration between Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador); the Bird's Head Seascape (Indonesia); the Sulu-Sulawesi Seascape (Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia) and Abrolhos Seascape (Brazil).
