BACKGROUND


Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative, IUCN India, and direct supervision of the Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration, IUCN India, the Coordinator for Leaders for Nature will facilitate a Network of Leaders for Nature drawn from the mainstream private sector corporates across India as a leading business network on biodiversity ecosystems within the context of sustainable development.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator will assist the Steering Committee, Leaders for Nature under the supervision of Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration, in bringing together business, NGOs and government in order to establish Leaders for Nature in India. The Coordinator will work with high-ranking officials and leaders, as well as other management levels within business, government and NGOs for implementation of Leaders for Nature in India. The specific duties include: 

(i) To develop and manage work plans and budget for Leaders for Nature in India ;

(ii) To ensure at all times appropriate dissemination of work plans and budget among all Steering Committee members so that the objective of cooperation, collaboration and communication between all implementing partners 

(iii) To schedule, plan, and facilitate regular network meetings with potential corporate members vis a vis Leaders for Nature, India;

(iv) To continually work towards expanding the network of Leaders for Nature India;

(v) To develop and deliver a package on behalf of that would attract private sector corporates to become members of L4N; 

(vi) To conduct training programs, for companies in India in respect of biodiversity, ecosystems and livelihoods within the context of corporate sustainability, and be the focal point for different types of training activities, identifying resource persons, and finalising priorities, venues, and costs involved; 

(vii) To ensure that this initative on Leaders for Nature India becomes self sufficient ;

(viii) To ensure that all implementation in terms of hiring consultants, procurement of services and equipment are in accordance with donor and IUCN guidelines;

(ix) To initiate and disseminate regular network communication (website, newsletter, presentations, visits);

(x) To facilitate, and ensure effective and coordinated communication of information between all organisations, companies and individuals involved in the programme implementation;

(xi) To Ensure monitoring of project activities; and ensure that IUCN branding, guidelines and communication policies are strictly followed; 

(xii) To ensure dissemination of project information and implementation of communication strategy, including writing and production of communication material;

(xiii) To ensure timely mobilization of project resources (personnel, financial and equipments);

(xiv) To work with the Manager Programme, Constituency and Administration to track and report programme expenditures on a regular basis;

(xv) To carry out any other duties assigned time to time by the Manager, Programme, Constituency and Administration, and the Country Representative, IUCN India. This may include assisting the IUCN India Country Office and the country programme in programme development, communication, organising events and other activities / tasks as required. 

Please Note: The above TOR contains the main responsibilities and duties of this position. However in an ever evolving organisation such as IUCN staff members are expected to show flexibility in their approach to work and be willing to undertake other tasks that are reasonably allocated to them but which are not part of their regular TOR. Where any task becomes a regular part of staff member’s responsibilities, the TOR should be changed in consultation between the manager, the staff member and the HR Unit. Any one of the three may initiate the consultation.

REQUIREMENTS


• Masters degree in either Business, Economics, Natural Resource Management, or related field  

• Minimum of 6 years proven experience working in the Indian private sector, and /or in national / international organizations, so that the individual is equipped to handle the setting up of a private sector engagement platform on sustainable biodiversity and ecosystems conservation  

• Knowledge and experience in the field of corporate sustainability frameworks within private sector companies across India  

• Experience in bringing different sectors and stakeholders together on corporate sustainability  

• Experience of engaging in dialogue with donors and private sector corporate, as also of handling networks  

• Experience in organizing meetings, including high-level sessions  

• Ability to work independently with a passion for the subject of business and biodiversity.  

• Affinity to work on sustainability issue within the context of sustainable development and more specifically biodiversity and ecosystems;  

• Excellent skills in written and spoken English are required and knowledge of other Asian languages a distinct advantage.
