PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position has three main functions:  first, provide administrative support to the Corporate and Foundation Relations department, which encompasses foundation fundraising, corporate fundraising, and events fundraising; second, support efforts to secure corporate sponsorships for the annual NPCA Salute to the Parks Gala, and help with the fulfillment of elements for existing cause-related marketing partnerships; third support and further current efforts to generate revenue from corporate/foundation grants, including expanding prospect pool, expanding participation in corporate matching gifts program, and diversifying and increasing stewardship of current funders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Provide administrative support for the C&F Relations department, including creating and generating correspondence and mailings; processing grant awards, proposals, and reports; entering and maintaining appropriate C&F Relations department data in the Development Department database Team Approach/BBEC; meeting and special event planning; maintaining department electronic and hardcopy files; and other duties as assigned.

2.    Support the fundraising and fulfillment of corporate sponsorships for the annual Salute to the Parks Gala. Responsibilities will include database management, mailings, and fulfillment of deliverables to include guest lists, print advertising, invoicing, seating etc. Majority of these responsibilities will be within an eight month period of increasing time commitment from fall through shortly after the Annual Dinner date.
 
3.    Assist in cause-related marketing programs including oversight for promotions, ad placements, website and social media exposure, and other support as needed.

4.    Conduct in-depth analytical research to identify foundation and corporate grant opportunities that align with NPCA regional and national programs. Conduct detailed research on current and potential corporate and foundation donors and prepare briefings summarizing findings.  Work with foundation staff, program staff, and field staff as necessary to develop foundation proposals and grant reports as assigned. Develop and prepare briefings, mailings, acknowledgements, and other correspondence and assist in stewarding ongoing relationships with foundation funders. Support Corporate Matching Gifts program. Assist with development and implementation of strategies for increasing revenue and number of participating companies.
 
5.    Assist efforts to increase and diversify stewardship of current corporate and foundation funders. Coordinate with Development Operations team to create a set of options for stewarding foundation and corporate grantmakers, and seek opportunities to proactively engage donors.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Relate confidently to peers and supervisors in the Development Department, to program staff and others throughout the organization, and to high-level C&F supporters/prospects. Participate in organization-wide meetings, staff meetings, training programs, and attend other meetings and seminars as designated by the supervisor. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of NPCA programs and work with program and field staff to understand and describe conservation programs. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of foundations and corporations that fund environment and conservation programs. Promote policies that are sensitive to the needs of a diverse workforce. WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. (Starting on September 1, 2011 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday) Some nights and weekends may be required.
 
SCOPE OF POSITION: This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of NPCA staff, both in the Washington, DC office and regional offices. Requires contact with corporate and foundation supporters and prospects, and other NPCA members and supporters.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND TRAITS: Bachelors degree required. 1-2 years work experience, preferably with development fundraising and/or cause marketing. Experience in a non-profit setting a plus. Excellent writing and editing skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Interest in all aspects of corporate and foundation fundraising. Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
