What we need: A self-starting, creative, fun-loving content creator extraordinaire—with a tech-loving alter-ego capable of sending emails, text messages and videos that get high school students fired up about stopping climate change.

You’ll work in the nerve center of a decentralized national organization, cooking up initiatives, contests, designs, words and visuals that support our work nationwide. You’re handy with a range of technical tools that get your gorgeous work into the field.

Some problems you might face:

  • We’re not hitting our goals on students reporting carbon-cutting projects. What initiatives can we craft to persuade them to not just take on more projects—but also tell us about them?
  • There’s a green fashion show in Chicago next week, and we want students to go. How do we put butts in the seats?
  • There’s a meeting with fundraisers tomorrow in LA and we need a mind-blowing compilation video of student projects. Go!

Love that? Then you’ll love this job.

Major areas we need you to run point on:

  • Spearheading our national DOT campaign – encouraging students to Do One Thing to help the environment. (acespace.org/dot)
  • Keeping DOT fresh through quarterly campaigns. (Eg, last year we ran a Biobus Tour that featured solar-powered concerts on the roof.)
  • Motivating staff and students through creative internal and external initiatives, like our March Madness competition.
  • Developing compelling collateral.
  • Everything from logos to t-shirts to recycling project webpages to text messages.
  • Writing that sings, design that stings.
  • Tracking results, circulating key data and developing improvements.
  • Getting it all out the door, painlessly and error-free.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years workforce experience.
  • Creative! Relentless in seeking ways to make climate change compelling and cool.
  • Tech-savvy. We’ll need you to dominate Salesforce, iMovie, Drupal, ExactTarget, Mobile Commons, InDesign, Photoshop and more. You don’t need to dominate all that yet—but you’ll need to dominate some, with a basic tech fluency to build off.
  • Proven program manager. We need you dream up great projects that support our mission—then develop them, get feedback, get them out the door, troubleshoot, tweak, assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Outstanding writer/communicator. Blog posts, emails, web pages, the works.
  • Design aesthetic. You know what looks good and what needs fixing.
  • Team player. We’ve got 15-20 educators working remotely nationwide. You’ll need to earn their trust and solve their problems to achieve your goals.
  • Proactivity. Because the same-old isn’t good enough.
  • Sense of humor. It’s so hot right now.

A little about us:

The national leader in high school climate education, ACE delivers award-winning multimedia assemblies on climate science and solutions to high schools nationwide, with more than 830,000 high school students served in two years. After the assembly, we help students kickstart Action Teams to take on carbon-cutting projects, anything from starting a recycling club to solarizing their school.

We’re a young, dynamic nonprofit organization off to the races on making a complex subject relevant, interesting and fun. We’re data-centric and tech-savvy, nimble and creative, passionate and results-oriented. We have a marketing book club and a resident Fun Team and an impressive professional development budget.

We want to help great people get greater—and make ACE terrific. More at http://acespace.org.
