The Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) is responsible for protecting and conserving the environment on behalf of the people of Western Australia. DEC works closely with the community to manage WA’s natural resources, promote environmentally sustainable practices, lead climate change actions, prevent pollution and remediate contamination. We also manage WA’s national parks, conservation parks, marine parks, nature reserves and State forests and protect and conserve WA’s native plants and animals.

We are looking for talented and dedicated people to join our environmental regulation team. The environmental regulation team is going through a major growth and development phase providing exciting opportunities for career development. Our officers deal with a range of regulatory and technical support activities to prevent pollution and protect the environment. These include:

• regulating emissions and discharges
• issuing Works Approvals and licences
• inspecting industry and major projects to ensure environmental compliance
• managing contaminated land and acid sulfate soils
• responding to pollution emergencies

Contaminated Sites
Providing advice on management of contaminated sites and acid sulfate soils and
assessing and classifying sites.

• 2 Data Management Officers: Level 2 (DEC3034856) and Level 4 (DEC3032886)
