Consultant Wind Resource & Yield Prediction

The position

Our Wind Unit works internationally on sustainable wind energy projects, both on- and offshore. Our wind energy experts advise project developers, utilities, Government organisations, financial institutions in the areas of feasibility, development, design, engineering, project management , economic analysis and due diligence for wind projects

The wind resource assess team is part of the Unit Wind and works mostly for project developers and wind farm owners. The main focus of the team is to support these clients with bankable wind resource assessment and yield prediction reports, based on climatological and mesoscale models, and supported on-site measurements (met masts and/or LiDAR) and nearby wind farm production data. An important aspect of this work is to pinpoint and quantify the various elements that contribute to overall uncertainty of the prediction.

Your main role will be to act as a project manager in executing within time and budget and to client satisfaction small and large projects. Amongst others you will carry out wind resource assessments within the team, based on measurement data, model output or station data. Also analysis of production data will part of the role. Part of the job will be to (help) perform acquisition, to act as project manager, to perform quality control, and provide guidance to our data analysts. Furthermore you can be asked to coordinate wind measurement campaigns based on met mast or LiDAR.

Your profile

• University degree in meteorology, physics or wind/renewable energy engineering
• At least 3-5 years’ experience in a professional environment, in wind energy
• Strong project management skills
• You have current working experience with WindPro, WAsP and Windographer
• Self-driven with the ambition to play a leading role in knowledge development
• Excellent oral and written command of English and preferably another European language.
• Willingness to travel and work for our projects in other countries
• Working permit for and willingness to reallocate to the Netherlands

It would be a pre if you:

• Have experience with offshore wind resource assessments
• Speak Dutch, but not a pre-requisite
• Have more years of experience
• Have a consultancy background
• Have knowledge of IEC-61400 and ISO standards
• Have experience in programming (Matlab)
