Description
Social economy refers to a third sector in economies between the private sector and business or, the public sector and government. The main objective of the project is to develop strong and vital social economy sector in Poland and suggest possible models for replication in other Eastern European countries. In particular, social economy institutions will be supported to improve their efficiency, develop a system of standardization and creation of social economy entities. Support structures for social economy entities will be elaborated and tested including efforts to increase social enterprises’ brand visibility. Education and training programs in the field of social economy (postgraduate studies, training, counseling, study visits and internships) will be elaborated and introduced.

The project will be implemented in broad partnership of 7 institutions. UNDP activities in the project are grouped in three areas. In the area of local partnerships, it will include developing social economy partnerships with local communities, establish “Social economy and business coalition”. Knowledge and experience sharing will involve organizing and conducting seminars for coalition participants, organizing study tours for social economy stakeholder and establishing a Social Economy Regional Center in Lublin focused on cooperation with Ukraine and Byelorussia. Particular attention will be given in the project to involving business community.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of this assignment is to develop strategy and lunch social economy enterprise focused on production of solar panels and other green technology. Under the supervision of Project Coordinator and project staff consultant is expected to:

  • Develop social enterprise model including, legal status, guidebook about how to build solar panels and analyze of costs effectiveness of enterprise.
  • Prepare necessary infrastructure including workshops for members/beneficiaries, equipment and prototype of solar panel and mini windmill.
  • Develop marketing strategy for social enterprise and sales network plan.

Supervisor: Project Coordinator – Integrated Support System for Social Economy in Poland Project.

Payment modality:
in three installments, 40% after completion and delivering outputs 1-2  and 20% after finalization of the last expected outputs.

 

Competencies

  • Experience in renewably energy, green technologies. Experience in working with EU funding implementing agencies;
  • Good knowledge of polish model of social economy, including legal environment, funding sources and support structure.
  • Good networking experience and contacts with partners involved in the implementation of “Social Economy” and Green Technology programmes.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a multi-national environment

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in social or development sciences
  • At least 4 years working experience
  • Knowledge of Europe and CIS region and Poland in particular
  • Fluency in Polish and working knowledge of English. Knowledge of other UN language of the region would be an asset
  • Familiarity with UNDP’s mandate and the human development concept.
