The position
The carbon market strategies and industrial energy use (CMN) unit within Ecofys is active in strategic
consultancy in the field of the carbon market (EU ETS, international energy carbon markets) and industrial
energy and carbon policies. The unit is up-to-speed with the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation and energy
efficiency options available to industrial clients, but also with the key policy developments important for
business operations. The unit supports government clients in the design of effective industrial and carbon
market policies and strategically supports corporate clients to incorporate energy and carbon efficiency
into their daily business.
Building on strategic advice to policy makers about industrial energy and carbon market policies, the CMN
unit is currently increasing its market share in the corporate market. We advise industrial corporate clients
on (elements of) their energy and carbon strategies via services such as:
• Product and organizational carbon foot prints
• Medium and long term energy and carbon roadmaps
• Supply chain carbon risk assessments
• Sectoral carbon leakage assessments
• Greenhouse abatement and energy efficiency potential studies
• Benchmarking and competitor scans
• 32-40 hours a week, based in London or Utrecht
For the execution of these projects, we are looking for an enthusiastic consultant with good, proven
knowledge energy and carbon efficiency options available to industrial clients and proven skills to
structure large amounts of information into customer ready solutions that fit the client’s needs. As
consultant in this role, your main responsibility is to contribute to projects as outlined above and to be
project manager of small (<20 kEuro) to medium size (<50 kEuro) assignments. In addition, you have an
acquisition target. You are expected to meet this target via leads coming from your knowledge and
network and by contributing to project proposals and business development activities.
Your profile
You have an academic background in one of the natural sciences and some years of professional
experience in the field of industrial energy use and industrial energy and carbon efficiency. You have good
project management and computer skills and an excellent oral and written command of English. You like
to structure large amount of quantitative and qualitative information into costumer-ready products that
help client to reach their goals and ambitions. You show commercial attitude and entrepreneurial skills in
identifying and seizing opportunities where possible.
