Biosis Research Pty. Ltd., one of Australia’s leading consulting firms in both Natural and
Cultural Heritage, is seeking to appoint a Consultant Botanist in our Sydney Office.
Biosis Research has undertaken many natural and cultural heritage projects throughout
southeast Australia and employs a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team that includes
Botanists, Aquatic Ecologists, Archaeologists, GIS  Operators, and Zoologists.  We have
offices in Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Ballarat, Canberra and Wangaratta.

Our Sydney office has a modern open plan working environment and has 10 highly
experienced consulting and support staff.  The office is located close to the CBD, easily
accessible by public transport (we are a very short walk from Green Square Station and a
number of bus stops on Botany Road and McEvoy Street.)

The person we are seeking is a highly motivated individual willing to participate fully in a team
environment. You will have established botanical field skills and experience in field ecology
and will be capable of providing environmental advice and guidance to our clients. Your
responsibilities will include managing and participating in projects, and the production of
technical reports.  Additional duties will include proposal writing, marketing and maintaining a
profile in the professional community as a botanist.

Applicants should have appropriate tertiary qualifications and around two years field
experience in field ecology. Technical knowledge of vegetation of south-eastern Australia is
essential, including skills in plant identification and understanding of and experience in
identifying different vegetation types and ecological communities. While previous consulting
experience is not essential, it is highly desirable. A background in applying current legislation,
a history of managing projects and well-developed team skills are also desirable.  We will offer
a competitive salary and participation in a profit  share program. We will also offer a very
supportive culture, professional development, mentoring and the ability to be involved in major
projects.
