Consultant Advisor, China (Part-time)

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Advisor to join our China team. The Consultant Advisor will play a leading role in developing and delivering the aspects of Global Witness’ international policy work focused on the Chinese government, companies, research bodies, non-governmental organisations and the media and will have a particular emphasis on the impact of Chinese investments overseas. The position will involve drawing on and integrating, where appropriate, evidence and recommendations from across the organisation’s programmes. The Consultant Advisor will also assist in formally establishing Global Witness in China.

Applicants must have experience carrying out high level engagement with Chinese government officials and institutions as well as established contacts with Chinese policymakers. A good understanding of Chinese overseas trade, investment, aid policies and interests are essential. The successful applicant will have an ability to understand and effectively communicate complex policy issues to a range of audiences and an ability to identify opportunities for effective engagement. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including fluency in English and Mandarin, are essential.

The role is part-time.
