Carbon Trust Mexico provides cutting edge advice to governments, the public sector and corporates, helping them to make the transition to a sustainable low carbon economy. We work with decision makers and implementers in key organisations in Mexico to help them contribute to and benefit from a more sustainable future through carbon reduction, resource efficiency strategies and commercialising low carbon technologies. We are looking for an individual with an economics background, and strong project management, policy analysis, and problem solving skills, to join the team as a Consultant:-
Leading the problem solving effort on client projects
Managing analysis and research work, including quality assurance
Managing the preparation and editing of reports and other deliverables
Managing relationships with sub-contractors and associates
Liaising with client contacts on day to day project business
Managing project teams and junior colleagues
Line-management of junior colleagues
Writing winning proposals for key clients/donors
Key skills
Economic and climate change policy analysis skills
Strong strategic problem-solving skills
Comfort with complex quantitative analysis
Strong project management skills
Project finance skills would be desirable
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability to manage junior colleagues effectively
Broad knowledge of low carbon policy
Demonstration of business acumen
Qualification and experience
We are looking for a team player with:
Significant relevant experience at a strategic management consultancy or relevant government agency
Degree educated in a numerate discipline e.g. economics, finance, accounting
Previous line-management experience
Experience of low carbon policy, especially in relation to energy, transport, agriculture/land-use change would be advantageous
Experience of and enthusiasm for climate change policy design and implementation
Experience working with States and municipalities in Mexico is desirable
Proficiency in English
Experience of business development desirable, particularly in formal tender processes such as those run by multilateral banks.
Other Information
This role is likely to involve long-haul international travel so applicants should be willing to make a number of trips abroad a year. Short-term placements abroad with clients are also a possibility and willingness to undertake these placements would be an advantage.
The successful candidate must have unrestricted right to work in Mexico, outstanding written and spoken English, and excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
