Ducks Unlimited seeks a motivated biologist to help provide science support for conservation efforts in the 7-state, Great Plains Region. This one-year term position will be stationed in the Great Plains Regional Office in Bismarck, North Dakota. The conservationspecialist will participate in many phases of the design, analysis, execution, and reporting of research investigations and the development of geospatial conservation planning tools. Duties will focus on supporting nesting success research and brood surveys in the Prairie Pothole Region and growing relationships with research partners.
Specific Duties:
· Collect, input, and verify biological and geospatial data
· Assist with literature review, data analysis, and writing for grant proposals and scientific publications
· Assist Regional Biologist with coordination of field logistics for research projects
· Assist GPR GIS staff with mapping and data management
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Wildlife Science, GIS, or a related field
- 3 – 6 months of experience in wildlife research
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software—including Access
- Familiarity with ArcGIS
- Ability to travel frequently and work effectively off-site including fieldwork in adverse conditions
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
This position reports to the Director of Conservation Planning for the Great Plains Region.
