Ducks Unlimited (DU) is seeking a Conservation Specialist to be part of our dynamic conservation team in South Carolina to assist with land protection activities associated with the Lowcountry Program. Other duties will include working on land conservation issues and assisting with wetland restoration and enhancement projects throughout the South Atlantic states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Qualifications: Entry level position that focuses on land protection and other habitat conservation activities. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation, natural resources or related field. This position requires knowledge of land conservation issues and natural resource management in South Carolina along with the ability to use GIS and mapping software. Previous experience working with a non-profit organization, private landowners and/or land trust is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct annual easement monitoring inspections, complete associated documentation and provide stewardship recommendations related to natural resource management to landowners.
• Conduct due diligence requirements of conservation easements including preliminary property inspections, baseline documentation reports and DU internal approval processes.
• Conduct property inspections associated with potential land donations.
• Assist with the development of grant proposals to fund land transactions.
• Assist with grant writing and major gift fundraising efforts to help secure program funding necessary to achieve DU’s mission.
• Assist with topographic surveys for wetland restoration and enhancement projects as needed.
• Develop communication pieces about DU’s conservation efforts in the South Atlantic.
