The Nature Conservancy is a leading global conservation organization working to make a positive impact in all fifty United States and more than 35 countries around the world. Founded in 1951, the mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. One of our core values is our commitment to diversity and we are committed to a globally diverse workforce.

The Global Lands team operates at the intersection of global development and environmental challenges. World population growth and rising incomes are driving rapid increases in the consumption of food, fiber and energy, which in turn are contributing to climate change and straining the natural systems on which all life depends. Important opportunities are available to sustainably supply the growing demand for commodities such as beef, soy, palm oil and timber products by making better use of already degraded land for agricultural expansion, significantly boosting productivity, and adopting improved forest management practices. The Nature Conservancy has a unique opportunity to apply our decades of experience working globally to solve environmental challenges and to transform how the world plans and uses landscapes, for the benefit of nature, people and the climate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Senior Conservation Fellow will work at a global scale, analyzing crop geographies, actual and potential, at both global and national levels, with the intent of identifying areas likely to experience significant expansion of planted area. His/her expertise will allow him/her to serve as an advisor to the Conservancy’s global strategy groups, helping to inform the support systems and tools we develop to influence the investments in additional croplands. The Fellow will be expected to spend a significant proportion of his/her time working with the Africa region to refine and implement its agricultural strategy, with a focus on East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia). His/her work in East Africa will focus on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and on helping small farmers move into supply chains.

S/he advises colleagues on active strategy management and develops key topical expertise beyond general strategy, supporting cross-functional or cross-boundary strategy development and management.
