Background
The Walt Disney Company office of Conservation Programs within Disney’s Corporate Citizenship office is responsible for building Disney’s reputation in the area of environmental responsibility and conservation impact. The office focuses on business-specific strategic partnerships on behalf of the company including relationships with stakeholders to connect children and families to nature. It manages the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, which includes an annual awards program and other contributions which help deliver on the “net positive impact on ecosystems” environmental target set by The Walt Disney Company.

Atmosphere
Work in an office environment and occasionally out of doors. Must be able to travel to special events and conduct site visits on occasion, sometimes to remote wilderness locations. Must be able to lift 40 pounds (associated materials and collateral to support programs).

Required Qualifications

Responsibilities
The representative will report to the Conservation Programs Manager on the following duties.

• All aspects of the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund (DWCF) awards process, including coordinating the annual distribution of more than $1 million in conservation grants.
• Maintain DWCF website strategy and presence, both the application site as well as the public information sites.
• Partner with training staff and assist in providing materials about DWCF successes to educate and excite Employees and Cast Members in the various locations which participate in DWCF fund-raising activities (such as merchandise locations at Animal Kingdom), as well as recognition programs for fundraising successes for DWCF.
• Oversee the work of the department coordinator and will also support external partnership activities in concert with the director, including the company’s involvement and support of non-profit organizations broadening our outreach with nonprofit organizations to connect youth to nature.
• Help create and manage a large scale star-studded event to celebrate Disney’s Conservation Legacy (similar to an event we created in 2006) and recognize youth for their work on behalf of the environment. Key responsibilities will be to liase with event production, write scripts, contact celebrities and manage event details.

Duties
• Strategic planning and execution related to conservation outreach programs, including new social media efforts including communications tools such as websites and other tools. Producing special events to draw attention to our programs.

• Coordinating the annual distribution of more than $5 million in conservation awards, interfacing with applicants, evaluation meetings, and communications plans around those awards programs.
• Supporting conservation awareness and fundraising and ensuring robust motivational programs to educate Employees and Cast Members including large scale event planning and execution
• Implementing and supporting “”children and nature” efforts and corporate programs, including Friends for Change: Project Green.
• Responding to internal and external requests for partnerships; issues and inquiries related to the environment and Disney in partnership.

Qualifications
The perfect candidate will have a background in and passion for the environment and conservation, with an affinity for communications. He/she is visionary, energetic, articulate and able to manage multiple priorities.

• Strong writing and research skills
• Extremely organized and able to manage multiple priorities with attention to follow up.
• Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with the field of conservation and environment including issues, organizations (NGOs) and concepts.
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a passion for conservation
• Experienced in goal setting and execution as well as measuring deliverables.
• Impeccable communication and partnering skills and approach that projects an open and warm communications style reflective of Disney.
• Demonstrated competence in writing/spelling, time management and initiative.
• Four-year degree or equivalent experience. (environment or communications or combination related fields)
• Related work experience of one year or more in animal conservation or environmental field.
• Bi-lingual capabilities or international experience a plus
