Description

Space for Giants (www.spaceforgiants.org) is an international conservation charity, operating in Africa, working to secure a future for elephants in the wild, the landscapes they depend on and the species that share their range. SFG’s mission is to secure a future for the largest mammals on earth forever, to be enjoyed by humanity forever, by ensuring they have the space and security to live and move freely in the wild forever. Space for Giants is registered as a charitable company the UK, a 50c31 in the US and governed by a voluntary board of directors. SFG has three areas of work: 1) wildlife protection; 2) securing wildlife habitat and; 3) minimising the cost of living with wildlife.

Space for Giants’ profile and budget has grown significantly since its creation and is arguably one of the fastest growing African conservation charities, in terms of both its reach and impact. In 2015 Space for Giants founded the Giants Club, a forum to secure Africa’s remaining elephant populations and the landscapes they depend on. It unites Heads of State, philanthropists, key influencers, and conservationists to deliver capacity-building projects and lobbying/communications campaigns to meet these objectives. The Giants Club’s goal is to effectively protect 200,000 elephants, half Africa’s total, and the landscapes they depend on by 2020. The rapid growth of Space for Giants has created an opportunity to achieve conservation on a scale that will leave a lasting legacy and impact for generations to come. However this can only occur with strong and strategic partnerships within and among Giants Club countries, with well designed conservation programmes. This is the justification for the post of Conservation Programmes and Partnerships Manager.
