Job Title: Conservation Operations Data Quality Specialist Reports to: National Land Information Coordinator Location:Toronto (preferred)
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a private, non-profit organization that prides itself on its entrepreneurial, science-based, non-confrontational approach to achieving conservation success. Since 1962, NCC and its supporters have protected over two million acres across Canada.
Overview NCC’s Conservation Operations Data Quality Specialist is responsible for quality control of project information and the development of a quality assurance programme for data and documents stored in NCC’s recently launched web-based Land Information System (LIS). The position will work directly with the National Land Information Co-ordinator to ensure that all due diligence is performed on all Securement project data received from our Region offices, and will work with the LIS project team to develop, document and communicate QA/QC procedures and best practices.
Job Responsibilities
Data Quality
- Assist with development of LIS data standards documentation, best practices and business rules.
- Assist with development of and administer program of LIS Securement data quality control checks.
Securement Documentation and Reporting
- Monitor securement project approvals documentation content (Conservation Project Summaries, Project Funds Packages) and liaise with regions as necessary to ensure consistency with LIS data.
- Assist with Securement reporting and review of key documentation required for the annual audit.
Other duties as assigned
- Support National Land Information Coordinator with other duties as assigned
Education and Competencies Required/Preferred
- Post secondary education
- Computer competency – MS Office required; Access / SQL knowledge an asset
- Excellent problem solving, planning and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of land securement process and policy
- Familiarity with land titles, agreements, land description, etc.
- Demonstrated interest in land conservation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Flexibility, reliability, self-motivation
- Ability to work as a member of a team or independently
