Description |
BirdLife International is a global partnership of national conservation organizations with a large grassroots membership, and is present in 125 countries and territories worldwide. BirdLife works together as a partnership to conserve wild birds, their habitats and global diversity, by working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. BirdLife’s unique local-to-global approach enables it to deliver high impact and long term conservation for the benefit of nature and people. In response to the declines in migratory bird species and increasing recognition of the need for scaled-up action, the BirdLife Partnership has adopted flyway conservation as a key focus of its work during the coming years. The BirdLife Partnership has a long history of implementing conservation projects on migratory birds, and with its extensive network of lead national conservation organizations is ideally placed to take joined-up action on a flyway scale. In recent years, BirdLife’s flyways approach has focused on the conservation of networks of critical sites for migratory species, addressing flyways-scale priorities. BirdLife’s flyways approach has been developed in part through support from the Rio Tinto-BirdLife partnership. This partnership is an example of BirdLife’s approach to working with businesses, whereby BirdLife enters relationships with business in order to find constructive solutions, but without compromising the public and open promotion of best environmental practice. This position represents an exciting opportunity to join BirdLife’s Americas Secretariat team, working closely with colleagues and experts throughout the Americas to further develop the Americas flyways program, and to support BirdLife’s work with corporates.
