WWF-Mozambique Vacancy: Conservation Manager - Vamizi Island, Mozambique WWF-Mozambique are looking for someone to lead WWF’s programme of work in the Vamizi region. The focus of this exciting role will be on improving the health and ecosystem productivity of Vamizi and Rongui Islands with benefits to the eco-tourism development, community fisheries and biodiversity conservation.
WWF is one of the world’s largest global conservation organisations. We are looking for a dynamic and highly experienced individual to play a crucial role in building and implementing a strong marine conservation programme in the Vamizi region, Mozambique. As part of WWF’s ongoing work in Coastal East Africa, you will be responsible for developing and delivering key conservation objectives on Vamizi Island, part of an international ecotourism development, and in the surrounding islands of Rongui, Macaloe and in Quiterajo on the mainland. Whilst you will be employed by WWF, you will based on Vamizi Island with accommodation provided and will be a critical member of the Vamizi Island Management team. You will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and management of the conservation programme, ensuring that it is managed effectively, reported accurately and delivered to time. You will need to work well independently and at times remotely, as well as within dynamic teams. A track record in building successful relationships with a range of partners, stakeholders and donors is essential. In particular, you will be required to build strong relationships with local communities and local government partners. To this end, ability to communicate in Portuguese is desirable.
