ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Conservation Journeys Senior Manager works with Development, field and program staff to support Conservancy fundraising, staff training and trustee development. He/she implements the planning process for projects including, the Global Priorities Trips Series, fundraising trips and Global Board of Directors Field Retreats. He/she identifies and contracts with select tour operators on a variety of duties including itinerary development and execution, contract/financial management, trip promotion and all trip logistical details. He/she manages all communications and promotional/informational materials for trips that he/she plans and is the direct contact with travelers. Works with designated project and Development staff to articulate and set goals and strategies and identify anticipated outcomes for each trip. Aligns trip goals with customized itineraries to priority project sites and oversees guidelines for trip acceptance, attendance, training tools, programmatic content and planning timelines. Maintains ongoing oversight of program effectiveness by tracking outcomes and updates programs and tools as needed, ensuring no duplication of efforts. Provides mentoring and guidance to manager position. Position involves routine contact with board members, trustees, major and principal gift donors and senior Conservancy staff and executive leadership. May work on special projects outside the realm of trip planning as needed.
The Senior Manager must be well versed in the systems and resources utilized by the team and be able to effectively communicate or distribute information. S/he also takes on additional duties to enhance the work of the team. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, a more significant role in training, developing documentation, and/or enhancing the systems and tools used by the team. The Senior Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices. This position does not supervise any staff but may take a leadership role in interdepartmental teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Experience in project management.
Organization skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Experience coordinating travel logistics or meeting planning
Experience working with different cultures.
Experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff.
Experience working across departments.
Experience, coursework, or other training in major and principal gifts fundraising.
Written and verbal communication skills.
