An exciting opportunity is available to work with Ducks Unlimited, the leader in wetlands conservation. The conservation intern position will be housed in the Great Lakes/Atlantic Regional Office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  This position will work closely with staff responsible for habitat conservation in the states of MI, MN, WI, OH, MO, IL, IA, KY, and IN, as well as assist in outreach, landowner education, research opportunities, partnership development, fundraising and public policy.  This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring resource professional to gain experience with on-the-ground wetland conservation and to become knowledgeable about the administrative side of habitat conservation.   

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support biologists and other staff in delivering habitat conservation programs. 
  • Assist in reporting and grant writing.
  • Serve as a liaison with private landowners, state and federal agencies, and other partner organizations.
  • Conduct public presentations and outreach.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a wildlife or wetlands related field, Master’s degree preferred.  Successful applicant will be highly motivated; have strong, demonstrated oral and written communications skills; have the ability to work both independently and as a team member; have excellent computer skills; and have knowledge of waterfowl, wetlands, and wildlife habitat issues.

 

Salary: This is a 12-month position with a stipend of $1,800 per month. 

 

Start date:  Preferably July 25 but if necessary will delay until a suitable candidate is selected.
