WWF-Australia, the global conservation organisation, is seeking a skilled conservation strategist to build upon on the foundations of WWF’s SWAE conservation strategy and manage SWAE on behalf of WWF-Australia and its consortium of SWAE initiative partners. With a focus on large scale conservation outcomes, the position works to conserve the maximum representation of biodiversity and applies systematic planning tools and methodologies to deliver a suite of transformative conservation goals.

Working closely with existing partnerships and building new relationships, the position is responsible for raising resources via grants and fundraising strategies, building awareness of SWAE’s global significance and networking across WWF, government and communities in the management of the SWAE initiative.

With a track record in delivering upon large cross-sectoral conservation strategies and programs, the successful candidate will need:

• High level planning skills and experience utilising systematic conservation planning tools within the context of large scale conservation project management
• Strong advocacy, interpersonal and influencing skills with a successful record of networking and partnering with government, research organisations, industry groups and community to facilitate delivery of partnerships at scale
• High level verbal and communication skills with demonstrated experience in developing technical submissions, policy positions and representing WWF publicly
• Strong people and financial management skills, with an ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams

A working knowledge of WWF’s ecoregional programs, understanding of the environmental context of SWAE and possessing established national and international networks will be highly regarded.
