The Conservation Information Manager supports the projects of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to further conservation work on the land and in the water. Through the use of GIS, GPS, database management systems and related technologies, the Conservation Information Manager will synthesize, analyze, and disseminate a wide range of spatial and non-spatial data sets and products.  Major responsibilities will include compiling, maintaining, and analyzing land protection, biodiversity, natural resource, political, demographic and socio-economic information from various sources; coordinating GIS and other database activities between internal and external sources.  In particular, this position will service projects generated by the Conservancy’s New York State Office and the Eastern New York Chapter; providing geospatial information and technical support and analyses for a variety of conservation projects including the work of the New York Conservation Action Teams, relevant Eastern Division Whole Systems and other organizational priorities at the North American and Global levels. S/He will be responsible for maintaining GIS and GPS hardware and software systems and maintaining knowledge of cutting-edge methods, tools and technologies to analyze, compare and display geographic information.  The Conservation Information Manager will be responsible for data compilation, development and distribution of digital products including maps, images and informational graphics.  The Conservation Information Manager will also be responsible for building GIS capacity across the state, which entails training and troubleshooting GIS problems with TNC staff.  The Conservation Information Manager will be supervised by the Director of Science.
