Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a leading firm in natural resources planning and environmental compliance, is seeking a Conservation Ecologist for our St. Louis, Missouri office to work in the Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure Business Unit. We are seeking strong mid level candidates with at least a Bachelors degree in ecology, conservation biology, wildlife or fisheries biology with a strong biology background and experience with natural communities in the western and Midwestern U.S.

SAIC is currently working on several large regional ecological habitat conservation and restoration plans throughout the western U.S. This is an excellent opportunity to work with highly experienced professionals while developing a career in applied conservation ecology and contributing to regional natural resources plans and programs. Projects could include regional habitat conservation plans, natural resources management plans, habitat restoration plans, NEPA compliance and Endangered Species Act compliance. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to operate independently.


REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Education: BS in ecology, wildlife biology, fisheries biology (MS preferred).
A minimum of 4 years experience in environmental consulting or related field.
Knowledge and experience working with natural communities in the western U.S.
Demonstrated experience in conservation biology and western U.S. ecosystems and experience with estuarine and aquatic ecology a plus.
Possess excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; and analytical and creative problem solving skills and ability to work as part of a highly motivated team.
Driven and motivated to achieve results and customer satisfaction.

DESIRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., federal and state Endangered Species Acts).
Knowledge and experience with freshwater aquatic, estuarine, and riverine ecology in the western U.S.
