Description

The Conservation Coordinator will work in the Muscatine Co., Iowa USDA Field Office and provide landowner outreach in order to broaden conservation agency engagement with local landowners to increase enrollment in USDA programs and land stewardship in the Lower Cedar and Iowa Rivers region, an area known as a hotspot of regional biodiversity. This position will visit private lands to determine conservation opportunities, to determine where unique resources exist, and help find solutions to management concerns and to promote USDA programs to aid in biodiversity conservation.  This position will produce material for each landowner that provides information about unique resources on their property and need and feasibility of conservation practices, and will manage conservation data and maintain records using GIS and USDA’s “Toolkit” in accordance w/ standards of technical accuracy.  The Conservation Coordinator will be responsible for working with USDA staff and landowners to assist in determining eligibility for, and enrollment into conservation programs.  This position will also work closely with other regional conservation entities to understand other programs available and will provide information to landowners about these programs.  Similarly, this position will assist in expanding local agency knowledge of resource concerns, management issues/opportunities, and patterns of biodiversity.
