Since 2007, ZSL’s EDGE of Existence programme (www.edgeofexistence.org) has sought to conserve the world’s most Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) species through raising awareness, initiating conservation and building capacity in countries in which they occur. As part of the United for Wildlife collaboration and funded by the Royal Foundation, ZSL has been leading on the development of online learning materials since 2015 with the launch of Introducing Conservation atlearn.unitedforwildlife.org.

  • Work both independently and with subject matter experts, the online learning Committee and Board members, the technical implementer Floream, and the project team, to develop and create materials.
  • Develop the United for Wildlife online learning curriculum, and materials on the existing platform, to consist of course materials, learning activities and resources, and interactive discussion and coursework areas.
  • Content development to include the creation of interactive content such as multi-media video clips and audio clips; filming of selected subject matter experts; illustrating videos; training support materials; maintaining existing content; producing live web events and webinars.
  • Ensure and rigorously uphold the quality of content through liaison with subject matter experts and the Course Content Steering Committee; develop learner recognition materials (currently through Badges and Certificates but to extend to Accreditation for future courses).

Person Specification:

  • Post-graduate degree in conservation, ecology, environment or related discipline or equivalent qualification, or relevant prior experience in designing online learning materials;
  • Previous experience in the specific development of conservation/ecology related online learning materials is desirable.
  • An educational qualification and/or prior experience in delivering educational programmes on conservation/ecology related topics (through any medium) would be an advantage.

  • The ability to convert lecture/presentation materials into online educational content, tailoring it to learning objectives appropriate for an online environment

Please note: The post holder will be based primarily at the ZSL main offices in London, Regents Park, but may occasionally be required to travel to collaborators based elsewhere in London and the UK.
