  • The Conservation Campaign Manager is a new position that supports and carries out a program of public education and advocacy to support Florida conservation policy. The position will mobilize program staff and volunteer leadership to increase Audubon’s capacity for conservation. The position will manage Audubon’s Florida online networks inform people and increase participation. The position will train and leverage staff and volunteer leadership to participate in campaigns of advocacy, public relations and donor cultivation.

    1. Evaluate, reframe and target Audubon’s issues and messages for strategic communications and outreach to reach policy makers.
    2. Create a schedule of public events and opportunities for outreach and presentations.
    3. Compile media outlet and contact lists and place stories that feature Audubon messages and spokespersons.
    4. Manage Audubon’s Florida electronic communications networks to communicate with members and supports about conservation issues and actions.
    5. Manage conservation components of Florida web pages and utilize new social media tools such as Facebook, blogs and web sites to better deliver and target messages to broader and more diverse audiences.
    6. Recruit and train volunteer leaders and staff in outreach and communications skills and messages that will reach policy makers. 
    7. Organize and hold Audubon sponsored public outreach events and identify events where volunteer Audubon leaders can make presentations about conservation priorities.  
    8. Work with and train Audubon volunteer leaders to help them to build relationships with policy makers as a result of their own outreach activities.
    9. Work with development staff to improve communications with contributors interested in improved public policy advocacy for conservation.

    Find opportunities for staff and leaders to engage in relationship building activities with contributors.

  • Program and development staff and NAS policy and IT staff.

  • Board, chapter leaders, allies, press, donors, members of online networks, consultants.

    • Bachelors Degree with some graduate work preferred. 
    • Five years of experience with campaign organizing, public relations, fundraising, conservation project management, advocacy or other related areas.
    • Experience with training and motivating volunteer leaders.
    • Excellent writer with a knack for online communications and messaging and skills with online communications tools.
    • Strong personal presence and demonstrated interest in wildlife conservation.
  • Phone, laptop computer, Blackberry, car, camera.

  • Driving, field trips on foot, ability to observe wildlife.
