 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 The Conservation Coordinator works in the St. Louis office on a part-time basis (21 hours/week) and provides administrative, research, project management and other general assistance to program staff working toward the achievement of protection, conservation and stewardship goals.  Key duties include: preparation of project packages for land transactions; conservation database and filing system management; lease, contract, and grant processing and tracking; meeting coordination and travel logistics; and providing administrative assistance to Conservation Programs staff.  Will manage conservation data, participate in ecoregional planning, respond to landowner inquiries and maintain manual project records.  May include collecting, assembling, and analyzing various types of data, producing maps using GIS software, and assisting in the production of reports.  This position involves work with Operations and Legal staff to achieve goals.
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 • Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience, Associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. 
• Experience coordinating multiple projects.
• Experience organizing files, coordinating projects or meetings, or related responsibilities.
• Experience handling standard business communications.
 ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience, Associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ideal candidate will have a degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management or related field.
• Knowledge of Missouri ecosystems or background in conservation preferred. 
• Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources and work independently.
• Ability to coordinate project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including ability to manage spreadsheets and utilize databases for data entry and analysis.  Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access database management preferred.
• Experience with Arc-GIS software preferred.
• Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and numerical ability.  Ability to plan, administer and record results of work-team meetings and activities.

COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines and manage a timeframe.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions. 
• Resolve routine problems independently, consulting with supervisor to develop plans for resolution of complex or unusual problems.

DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING:
• Make day-to-day decisions as delegated by supervisor.
• Consult with supervisor in event of any unusual circumstance, problem or question that falls outside of specific instructions given.

RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL AND SUPERVISORY:
• Supervises no staff but may oversee and direct work of office volunteers or interns.
• May purchase equipment and supplies as provided for in budget and in consultation with supervisor.
• May assist with program budget preparation and monitoring. 
• May perform financial and administrative tasks related to project appraisals, surveys and title work.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
• Ability to work cooperatively with a number of staff, sometimes under pressure.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form, with the public, donors, members, scientists, preserve staff and others, providing and obtaining needed information. 
• Ability to function productively as a member or leader of a work team.
• Familiarity with standard business communications; ability to write and edit correspondence.
• Provide a variety of information to staff and others, contributing to conservation projects and assisting workflow throughout the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Work performed in a general office setting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and manage deadlines.
• Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or strain.  Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
