Overview: We need a highly organised, effective individual with a strong background in woodland 
conservation and program delivery. The ability to work alone and also develop positive interactions with
clients is essential. We are looking for someone who enjoys coordinating events and programmes and
has the knowledge and skills to deliver conservation work at our pioneering woodland education centre.
Passionate about creating a safe space for people to deepen their connection with nature and increase
their wellbeing, experience of working with a diverse range of clients is required.
About Hazel Hill Wood: 
Hazel Hill Wood is a beautiful 70-acre conservation woodland, education and retreat centre, 7 miles
south-east of Salisbury. The wood has indoor learning spaces and sleeping accommodation for up to 26
people, plus camping and various outdoor facilities including fire circles and composting toilets. Some
of the events at Hazel Hill are organised and run by external clients, and an increasing number of events
we run ourselves.
The wood is owned and operated by Hazel Hill Trust. An educational charity that was set up in
2015, the charity aims to develop the work that has been going on at the wood ever since it was founded
by Alan Heeks in 1987.
With the care and nourishment of the wood forming the basis for many of the programmes at
Hazel Hill Wood, it is the magical qualities of the woodland that we aim to share with others while helping
to grow a variety of life skills.
The wood is cared for by a small dedicated team working part time on a self-employed basis.
There is a good deal of flexibility about roles, an impressive range of skills, and a lot of mutual support.
Key members of this team who this position will work closely with include Marcos Frangos, General
Manager, Elle Mount-Kingett, Education Manager, Caroline Hukins, Development Manager, Tim Knight,
Facilities Coordinator, Simon Wyre, our Buildings and Facilities Manager, John Bailey, our lead caretaker
and a range of consultants that complete forestry tasks, general maintenance and program delivery.

Detail of Job Roles
1. Program Coordination and Delivery
2.  Managing and Completing Conservation Tasks
3.  Coordinating Natural History programmes
4.  General maintenance and Relief Caretaking opportunities in addition to the core role.
About you
Ideally you should live locally to the wood. Working patterns can be agreed upon however, flexibility is
beneficial and some weekend work is required. An excellent organiser, you will have knowledge and
experience in woodlands, conservation, sustainability and education and be a good communicator.
Ability to work alone, as well as enjoying being part of a team are essential qualities. You will need
certification for chainsaw and brush cutter use (highly desirable but not essential). An inspiring
instructor, you will have experience of working with a diverse range of client groups. Familiarity for
creating and using Risk Assessments and following safeguarding procedures is required. Advertising or 
marketing experience, particularly through online channels is highly desirable. 
Hours, pay, etc.
The core hours offered for the role (Tasks 1 to 3 above) are 2.5 days per week on a self-employed basis.
Working patterns are relatively flexible however, working set days can be beneficial. Commitment to
programme delivery days and monthly team ‘At The Wood’ days are essential (all dates are given in
advance). The rate is in the region of £80 - £110 per day depending on experience and qualifications.
Additional opportunities (Task 4 above), such as relief caretaking are negotiated on a separate basis.
Start date is flexible however, we hope to have someone in role as soon as possible.
