This is an excellent opportunity that offers the successful applicant a chance to work in one of the most sustainable forms of transport and shape sustainability across the industry, whilst building on and developing a wide range of skills to progress your career.

Background

The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) is the Trade Association for the passenger railway industry. ATOC’s mission is to work for passenger rail operators in serving customers and supporting a prosperous railway. Set up after privatisation in 1993, ATOC brings together all train companies to preserve and enhance the benefits for passengers of Britain’s national rail network.

Rail Settlement Plan (RSP) is a department within ATOC, responsible for the settlement of ticket sales, provision of standards for ticketing and providing shared service IT systems. RSP Accreditation is the process by which RSP ensures that a Ticket Issuing System (TIS) - the railway’s electronic point of sale (EPOS) is able to:

• Produce tickets that conform to National Rail standards and are acceptable to all UK Train Operating Companies (e.g., for revenue protection).

• Generate the associated ticket transaction data that is acceptable to the centralised RSP settlement systems (e.g., for accuracy and probity).

• Generate data which interfaces appropriately with other RSP systems and allows for interoperability functionality between TIS (e.g., for seat reservations and Ticket on Departure (ToD)).

• Maintain security and integrity in relation to these RSP systems.

• Assure Train Operating Companies (TOCs) that their TIS comply with their obligations.

ATOC are looking for an analyst to analyse and test each machine that is presented to RSP for accreditation.

Objective

To perform the role of an accreditation analyst as required. Below is a high level overview of accreditation:

• Ticket Issuing Systems (TIS) that sell or issue Rail Settlement Plan (RSP) settled rail products must comply with RSP Standards which are designed to ensure the completeness, accuracy and security of settlement, and to prevent any detrimental impact on services which RSP manage on behalf of the rail industry.

• The accreditation process is undertaken primarily by RSP personnel and comprises a number of key stages from receipt of the supplier’s application form through to pilot and roll-out of the accredited TIS.

• The RSP Accreditation team provide support, guidance and accreditation services to third party suppliers and retailers in order to ensure that each TIS complies with the appropriate RSP Standards relating to the particular system or software development.
