Description

Job Title: Community Solar Inside Sales Specialist

Department: Inside Sales

Reports to: Inside Sales Manager

Summary:

Next Step Living is seeking a highly motivated candidate with sales experience and strong communication skills to be a sales specialist for community solar, a new product offering. Customers of community solar will purchase remotely located, maintained, and operated photovoltaic panels, and will receive energy savings through automatic utility bill reductions. 

The Sales Specialist will be NSL’s face to the market and main point of contact for customers interested in community solar, and must be capable of taking prospective customers through the entire sales process: from inquiry, to lead, to proposal generation and financing solutions, to contract closing and follow-up. Successful candidates must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and interest in following lead process management. The Specialist will make and receive telephone calls to initiate contact with customers, and will use Salesforce for lead management. This position will be responsible for addressing customers within multiple utility service areas in Massachusetts.   

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of all solar product offerings and customer agreements.
  • Manage leads daily through Salesforce.
  • Initiate contact via phone with and respond to inquiries from prospective customers.  Role may involve minimal local travel for in-person contact with customers, but will primarily be based in Boston office.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective customers
  • Follow the company’s lead management process throughout contact and attempted contact with customer.
  • Communicate professionally, intelligently and persuasively to familiarize customers with value and benefits of our community solar product offering. 
  • Generate accurate customer proposals with financing solution options, rebate application paperwork, and more. 
  • Coordinate and assist customer to complete financing process. Explain options to customers and assist them in selecting best financing options for their situations.
  • Close the sale within a predetermined sales cycle.
  • Close the sale with required documents completed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and product education including in education and promotional events in the service areas.
  • Assist in the development of NSL’s community solar sales program.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales targets.
  • May involve minimal local travel for in-person contact with customers, but will primarily be based in the Boston office.

Qualifications:

  • Previous sales experience is required, Tele-sales preferred.
  • Previous solar sales experience with a proven success in telesales is a plus.
  • Understanding of solar PV industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong oral, written and telephonic communication skills, as well as analytical skills.
  • Ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely to others.  Listens actively.
  • Experience adhering to a sales process is required.
  • Strong MS Office skills are required.
  • Experience using CRM tools (specifically, Salesforce.com) is required.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to explore and implement new solutions.

  • This is a full time position with a flexible work schedule that may include some nights and weekends.
