Not-for-profit organisation Groundwork London’s are looking for Community Project Officer, within the Community team, who is passionate about enabling residents, stakeholders and grassroot groups to affect change in their neighbourhoods.

Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places where they live. We have been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 25 years, and today we have a simple mission: to create better places, improve people’s prospects, and promote greener living and working. We are passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no-one is held back by their background or circumstances. Groundwork London’s Community team empower residents, stakeholders and grassroot groups, including those under-represented in mainstream consultation exercises, to build confidence, skill and capabilities to become agents of change.

As Community Project Officer, you will work with diverse communities on a range of community and environmental projects concurrently:

  • Co-creating engagement strategies with communities, partners and clients to design vibrant green and open spaces, including play spaces, community gardens and food growing areas
  • Planning and delivering participation and education activities tackling topics, from climate change and food sustainability to social isolation and integration
  • And building community capacity and skills, improving health and wellbeing and promoting active lifestyles

The postholder will be line managed by our Area Programme Manager and work alongside other community team members including Community Gardeners and Landscape Architects.

  • Passionate about empowering local decision making within communities
  • Experienced in community project design and delivery
  • A creative thinker
  • Have excellent verbal communicator, demonstrated through strong face to face and digital facilitation of workshops
  • Experienced in project and budget management
