Description

Not-for-profit organisation Groundwork London is looking for two Community Project Officers, who are passionate about enabling residents, stakeholders and grassroot groups to affect change in their neighbourhoods.

Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places where they live. We have been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 25 years. Today, we have a simple mission: to create better places, improve people’s prospects, and promote greener living and working.

We are passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no one is held back by their background or circumstances. Groundwork London’s Community team empowers residents, stakeholders and grassroot groups, including those under-represented in mainstream consultation exercises, to build confidence, skill and capabilities to become change agents.

As Community Project Officer, you will work with diverse communities on a range of community and environmental projects concurrently:

  • Co-creating engagement strategies with communities, partners and clients to design vibrant green and open spaces, including play spaces, community gardens and food growing areas
  • Planning and delivering participation and education activities tackling topics, from climate change and food sustainability to social isolation and integration
  • Building community capacity and skills, improving health and wellbeing and promoting active lifestyles
  • The Hackney Community Project Officer postholder will support older people to volunteer at one of our participant-led Silver Lining’s Clubs to create gifts for other beneficiaries in the borough, from repurposing textiles at Craft for a Cause or wood crafting at Chippy’s and Chips

The post holder will be line managed by our Community Programme Manager and work alongside other community team members including Community Gardeners and Landscape Architects.

Please contact us if you are a self-starter who is:

  • Passionate about empowering local decision-making within communities
  • Experienced in community project design and delivery
  • A skilled facilitator, able to adapt to different cohorts
  • A keen up-cycler, woodcrafter / carpenter
  • A resourceful and creative thinker
  • Have excellent verbal communication, demonstrated through strong face-to-face and digital facilitation of workshops
  • Experienced in project and budget management
