Blue Ventures is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and committed Community Programme Coordinator to lead community, outreach and education programmes in Belize. The Community Programme Coordinator will work closely with the Country Coordinator to plan, develop and coordinate community liaison, outreach and education projects, as well as managing other staff and volunteers participating in community programmes.

The successful candidate will work  closely with the “Belioness” Belize Lionfish Jewelry group to build capacity for business and organisational management, as well as lead a social marketing campaign that aims to increase demand for invasive lionfish. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all social research and educational programmes are carried out in accordance with the Belize 2016-18 Strategic Plan.

Additional responsibilities will include working closely with colleagues to support volunteer expeditions, and representing Blue Ventures and providing support to partner organisations at meetings, knowledge exchange workshops and events.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual, with a strong understanding of small business management and marketing, the challenges of tropical marine conservation and development and possess excellent communication skills. Ideally, you will have experience community-based conservation and development initiatives in Belize or Central America, and enjoy working as part of an interdisciplinary and international team.

You will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate and ambitious, and be able to demonstrate experience of working independently and solving complex problems in challenging situations.  

This role will report to the Belize Country Coordinator, and will be based in Blue Ventures’ office in Sarteneja, with opportunities for travel to other coastal communities and Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve.
