Community Outreach Manager

The initial responsibility of this role includes engaging with established partners to move forward existing community outreach tactics. Ongoing responsibilities will include researching and compiling data on environmental organizations, religious organizations, schools, and recreation organizations that would help Recyclebank promote the Philadelphia Recycling Rewards program and Recyclebank in PHILADELPHIA. Additionally, this person will participate in building out the strategy to mobilize community partners and enthusiastic residents to promote recycling, trash reduction, and Recyclebank in PHILADELPHIA. This person will reach out to residents or organize and train groups that will reach out to residents on a one-on-one basis (door-to-door) throughout PHILADELPHIA to promote the program. This person must have excellent and engaging presentation skills as they will also be asked to speak publicly on the program to community groups. Most of this communication will need to be done after normal works hours and on weekends. Clear and logical verbal and written communication is an important asset for engagement and training efforts associated with this position.

This person will identify the perceived challenges and/or actual problems residents face when using the program, provide feedback to the Account Manager on these challenges/problems, and offer suggestions for improvement. He/she will ensure residents fully understand how to recycle in PHILADELPHIA, how the Philadelphia Recycling Rewards program works, and how one is rewarded for one’s recycling efforts.

The Community Outreach Manager will work closely with the Account Manager, Marketing and the City to build scalable and repeatable processes for community outreach in other large Recyclebank communities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must reside in PHILADELPHIA
• Must have a good understanding of the neighborhoods in PHILADELPHIA
• Strong internet research skills
• Knowledge of local religious institutions, community groups, neighborhood associations, environmental groups, schools and recreation centers.
• Passionate about community outreach and have an active interest in recycling
• Excellent and engaging communication and public speaking skills
• Reliable, independent worker
• Available to work flexible hours
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Bilingual Spanish is a Plus

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• College degree
• 3 or more years experience in community outreach
