Community Mobilizer, South Sudan

AWF is seeking a highly motivated professional who will provide community mobilization support to AWF’s new Imatong Mountain and Watershed Conservation Project in South Sudan.

Responsibilities

• Mobilize participating communities in the Imatong project area
• Support implementation of community focused project outputs
• Ensure a regular flow of information to partners
• Liaise with AWF staff and partners on technical issues
• Help AWF GIS team with mapping: accompany them on site visits
• Secure maps from the Group Ranch and make sure consistent with AWF maps
• Provide follow up support on capacity building exercises in the established community groups

Qualifications

• Advanced Diploma or Bachelors degree in Community Development
• At least 3 years’ experience consistent with the above responsibilities
• Data Collection experience
• Community organizing experience
• Familiarity with South Sudan and experience in the country
• Demonstrated ability to build capacity of communities around the project area to engage in and ensure project objectives are implemented
• Genuine respect for the skills and perspectives of communities, partner organizations and the private sector
• Basic Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Good Communication Skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and to prioritize them and to work with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
• Proficiency in both English and Arabic (spoken and written) is required
• Commitment to AWF and its mission
