Environmental regeneration charity Groundwork London is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Community Gardeners to join our team on the following programmes:

1.    Energy Garden Community Gardener:

5 days per week April to September. 4 days per week October to March

The Energy Garden Community Gardener will support local communities across London to deliver, maintain and develop communal food growing plots, wildlife and biodiversity areas and aesthetic planting schemes across the London Overground Network. The postholder will provide community gardening, horticulture and environmental awareness expertise to the Energy Gardens network and focus on encouraging sustainability and further engagement from new community members and groups.

The postholder will be a key contact for groups and deliver varied workshops to individuals of all ages and abilities. 

Travel across London and the Overground network will be required so the post holder must be flexible in working in a range of locations. A full driving licence is essential for this post.

2.    Corporate Volunteering Community Gardener:

3 days per week April to September. Varying hours October to March

The Groundwork London Corporate Partnership Programme aims to make Groundwork London the “go-to” green charity in London that corporates approach for employee engagement and corporate volunteering.” Groundwork is seeking a Community Gardener to lead the planning, preparation and practical delivery of the environmental volunteering element of this programme.

The postholder will be responsible for event planning and preparation, including health and safety and task planning, with the support of the Corporate Partnerships Officer. You will also take a lead in the practical delivery of all corporate volunteering events, focusing on event set up, supervision of event volunteers and supporting the establishment or a positive, proactive environment.

Experience in facilitating and supervising a variety of practical tasks is essential. A full driving licence is essential for this post.

3.    Project Community Gardener:

The work is sessional depending on the needs of each project; these needs are matched and allocated to members of the sessional gardening team as to their availability and skill set.

The Project Community Gardener will develop and deliver food growing, community gardening and practical nature conservation workshops that engage residents and community members, including people from diverse backgrounds. The postholder will utilise their strong horticulture and food growing expertise to support groups and individuals build skills, confidence and therefore project sustainability.

Project work available to the postholder is varied and will include community gardening; food growing; garden design and maintenance; horticultural training & development; capacity building; volunteer engagement; and corporate volunteering.

You will utilise your excellent communication skills in engaging individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and varied age groups, including those with English as a second language and young people.

The work programme will include evening and weekend work. A full driving licence is essential for this post.
