We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Officer as part of a new Green Social Prescribing project, which will deliver public health and sustainability outcomes in Cheshire East.

You will design and deliver a programme of activities that will help people deepen their connection with nature, become more active outdoors and improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The Green Spaces for Wellbeing programme will help people to access their local parks and deliver meaningful activities that enhance green spaces across Cheshire East. Focussing on the communities most in need, you will deliver an inclusive programme that addresses the needs of diverse audiences.

Creating a safe and welcoming environment, you will manage the onboarding of individuals and signpost to other services where needed. To ensure the sustained impact of the programme, you will manage the Green Spaces for Wellbeing volunteer network including recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers.

By promoting the Green Spaces for Wellbeing programme, you will help to raise its profile with social prescribers, primary care networks, the voluntary sector, and wider audiences. This will include developing stakeholder relationships and producing compelling communications that encourage people to get involved. Alongside this, the postholder will prepare key reports and support evaluation.

We need someone with experience of community engagement or volunteer management, and a passion for nature and supporting people’s wellbeing. You will also have excellent stakeholder management and communications skills.

This rewarding role sits within a small, friendly team within the Parks Management Service and is part of a partnership between the NHS, Cheshire East Council and the voluntary sector. We offer competitive terms and conditions, flexitime scheme, hybrid working arrangements, access to the Local Government (career average) Pension Scheme, salary sacrifice schemes, employee assistance programme and access to corporate leisure discount, amongst other benefits.
