Description

Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute is a government approved institute undertaking environmental research as well as educational and community projects in North West Madagascar.

MRCI are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join as our community coordinator to manage the community projects being run including valuable construction projects such as renovation of schools, building much needed sanitary blocks for rural communities and maintenance of buildings in communities that have very little infrastructure and funding.

The successful applicant must be independently motivated, be able to lead small groups of volunteers, have a working knowledge of building/construction management, build a good working relationship within the local communities and not afraid to get stuck in and their hands dirty!

For the role it is essential that the candidate hold the following skills;

  • Experience in developing country/volunteer projects
  • Fluent/intermediate in French
  • Ability to coordinate volunteers
  • Manage the various different community projects simultaneously

This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your existing abilities, learn new skills and gain experience in the field!

The position is for an immediate start and requires a minimum commitment of 6 months.

This is a non-paid position although all meals will be provided when at the Turtle Cove house as well as accommodation. You will need to cover your own pre-departure costs including flights, personal equipment, vaccinations and visas.

Further information about the project can be found on our website at www.madagascarvolunteer.com.

If you are interested in applying please email liz@madagascarvolunteer.com a copy of your C.V and detailed covering letter (please include community coordinator in the subject heading).
