Description

Community and Education Officer

Salary: £11,260 (FTE £18,767)

21 hours / week

2.5 year fixed term contract

Based at Meadow Farm, near Bicester

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust is a membership-based voluntary organisation, managing over 80 nature reserves, influencing land management and educating and encouraging all sectors of the community to care for local wildlife.

The Upper River Ray, on the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire border, is one of the last remaining strongholds of traditional floodplain meadows in England.  As well as supporting a rich floral community associated with lowland hay meadows, the area also supports a small breeding population of locally scarce wading birds. The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust is now recruiting for a Community and Education Officer funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), to run a range of public engagement activities within the project area.

The post-holder will develop and deliver a varied and engaging programme of public events at Meadow Farm in line with the HLF awarded grant and timetable.  They will develop and deliver school education programmes, Nature Tots activities for pre-school children and outreach opportunities with schools in the local area.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years’ experience delivering education to primary-aged children.  They should have skills and experience in organising and delivering events and recruiting and developing volunteers.

For full details on how to apply for the post, please visit our website www.bbowt.org.uk, email: jobs@bbowt.org.uk or phone 01865 775476.

CVs will not be accepted. Please note that only successful applicants will be notified. The closing date for applications is 9am Tuesday 11th March 2014.

Interviews will be held at Meadow Farm, near Bicester on Friday 21st March 2014.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
