Job Description

 

Position Title Communications Officer

INBAR Unit: Development and Communications Unit (DCU)

Reports to: Head of DCU

Location: Beijing, China

Term of Employment:  one year contract- subject to renewal upon performance, local employment candidates apply.

 

As a central member of the DCU team, the Communications Officer will play a key role in the implementation of INBAR’s communication strategies, with specific targets for increasing INBAR’s global outreach and effectively promoting the organization and its global programmes. The Communications Officer will also work in close cooperation with the INBAR’s executive management team, programme staff, and our regional offices. S/he will be expected to:

 

  • Actively contribute to the implementation, adaptation, and updating of INBAR’s global communication strategy, linking it to the organization’s overall strategic framework and goals.

     

  • Actively promote INBAR and our work on national, regional and global levels by writing success stories, publishing a quarterly newsletter, regularly updating the website with articles and blog posts, and actively participating on social media outlets.

 

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of INBAR’s events and public relations activities, including engaging with local and international media, holding press events and writing press releases, developing general and targeted promotional materials, and supporting other public relations activities as required.

 

  •    Assist with editing INBAR’s publications, proposals, programme/project reports, etc., as required. 

 

Qualifications

  • ·         Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or marketing, Master’s preferred.
  • ·         Knowledge of international sustainable development issues (poverty alleviation, environment/climate change, community development, etc.
  • ·         Native English speaker. Basic conversational skills in one of  INBAR’s other official languages, French, Spanish and/or Chinese preferred.
  • ·         Excellent English writing and editing skills.
  • ·         Experience developing communications and marketing tools.
  • ·         Experience with website updating and social media.
  • ·         Experience organizing press and public relations events.
  • ·         Ability to work as part of a team, and independently, under tight deadlines.
