Description

The Marine Stewardship Council (the MSC) works to safeguard the world’s seafood supply by promoting the best environmental choice in seafood to the consumer through the use of its ecolabel. The organisation is recognised internationally as a groundbreaking and credible solution to the serious environmental problem of overfishing.

Supporting and reporting to the Madrid-based Country Manager, and in close co-operation with the MSC's communications teams based in London and elsewhere, the Communications Officer has the exciting and challenging role of taking the MSC's message to new and existing audiences in Spain and Portugal.

Utilising their creative and organisational skills, the post holder contributes to a diverse range of activities to promote the MSC’s mission and ensure successful delivery of the communications strategy. Responsible for leading the MSC’s media work and events management in Spain and Portugal, the post holder is the first point of contact for members of the public and journalists.

The Communications Officer ensures that all MSC communications are targeted to meet audience needs, are produced to a high standard, and represent the MSC accurately and persuasively.

The post holder is also responsible for ensuring the Spanish and Portuguese MSC website is up to date, well managed and meets the needs of users.

As a member of the organisation’s global communications team, the Communications Officer also provides occasional support and advice to MSC departmental and regional teams as required.
