Salary £24,530 - £27,370 (pro rata)
Assignment/fixed term contract until 31 March 2014.
The role
In this role you’ll assist with dealing with the media, identify opportunities to be proactive about the work the Environment Agency is doing, write press releases, lead campaigns and use social media channels to highlight our work. You’ll liaise with the media during incidents. You’ll also help with event management and publishing.
The team
The media and campaigns team work closely with colleagues in all functions across the Midlands to advise on media and digital communications. Our role is to warn and inform the public, influence people’s behaviours to protect the environment and profile the work of the Environment Agency.
Experience/skills required
We’re looking for a communications specialist with at least one year’s experience, preferably with experience of dealing with the media, or an understanding of the role the media.
You’ll also need excellent communication skills, including the ability to write in Plain English. We need someone who can prioritise their workload in a busy environment and brief staff on all levels. Knowledge of the Midlands media, social media, campaigns and events would be an advantage.
Additional useful information
The role will be mainly office based in Solihull, but there may be a need to travel to other offices across the Midlands, and also to go out on site during media filming opportunities, or during incidents.
There may also be a requirement to work longer hours or shifts during an incident.
